Why is Physics important?

The study of Physics is divided into many different subsections:

  • Electricity and Magnetism
  • Light and Vision
  • Sound and Hearing
  • Relativity
  • Astrophysics
  • Quantum Physics
  • Mechanics
  • Heat and thermodynamics
  • Condensed matter
  • Nuclear Physics

The philosopher Thales, dubbed "The father of science", refused to accept various supernatural, religious and mythological explanations for natural phenomena, and proclaimed that every event must have a cause. More and more physicists then started to discover and define the different subsections of Physics noted above. These specific types of Physics have been widely adopted, and 'modern day' physicists are now applying the Physics in fields such as technology, engineering and space.
